On the 18th of July 2009 more than 150 youth met in Canberra for the South NSW Youth Rally. They travelled from as far away as the Bathurst, Orange, Wagga, Albury, Dapto, Bega, Bowral, Goulburn and Sydney.

During the program the youth broke up into discussion groups to discuss how they could refocus their energies on the second coming of Jesus, in the context of current youth issues such as the environment and the popular youth interest on green earth and global warming. The youth were then blessed with a special time of worship, and confronted by a drama of people in a waiting room who were waiting to see if they'd caught a misunderstood and contagious condition called SAL (Salvation). The youth were challenged by dynamic speaker Pr Steve Kane, Youth Director of South QLD Conference, with over 140 youth committing and recommitting their lives to Jesus so that He could make their lives ‘Non-Toxic'.

After a delicious, healthy free lunch, provided by some parents from around Canberra, the youth divided into two groups to head to the streets of Queanbeyan to share their faith in Jesus Christ. "The SNSW Conference Executive Committee and Administration have a vision for developing a Church plant in Queanbeyan with the hope of meeting people's needs in the community whilst reaching the mainly lower socio-economic group that live in the area. Our SNSW Youth Advisory intentionally planned, also spending a good deal of time preparing, for the Sabbath afternoon of the Youth Rally to ensure the Youth of SNSW Conference have an opportunity to share their faith, contribute to the strategic plan of the Conference and most importantly extend the Kingdom of  God in the hearts of people in Queanbeyan." said Pr Andrew McCrostie (Youth Director). One group went door to door to follow up on some material received from Signs Publishing,  ABC Greater Sydney Conference and Free Disc International that was letterboxed a few days earlier. As a result, on the Youth Rally afternoon they found three people that wanted to find out more about Jesus! The other group also shared God's love practically in servi ng the community via clowns, puppetry, balloons, and free food and drinks at the local Skate Park, and were faced with questions such as "Why would you do this for us?". This strengthened, surprised and challenged the youth to step up for Christ and show the world that Seventh-day Adventist Youth are a Non-toxic influence in their community.

The Youth Rally w as concluded with an outstanding and inclusive games night run by some of the Albury youth. It built a great sense of connectedness and unity, and reflected the principles of the Youth Rally, showing how contemporary youth can be a non-toxic influence on each other and within their communities as they are aware of their Purity in Christ because of His gracious gift of eternal life .
